What?
We are an auxiliary program specializing in English Language Arts and publishing house. The Young Authors in our auxiliary program explore fiction, non-fiction, and poetry. They engage in the editing process, which ranges from personalized grammar instruction to group based brainstorming and constructive criticism. Finally, our Young Authors get to experience the publishing world first hand by formatting, reviewing and ultimately publishing their book. Our publishing house is open to students in 3rd - 12th grades and helps these students turn their manuscripts into their very own book.
When?
Young Authors' Workshop is a year round program. We offer after school and summer programs. Our publishing house is also open year round.
Where?
Currently, Young Authors' Workshop is available for schools and organizations in the District of Columbia. If you would like Young Authors' Workshop to come to your school or organization please submit a request on our Getting Started page. Our publishing house is open to anyone in the United States.
Why?
Young Authors' Workshop was created to give students a place to express themselves, explore their imaginations, and improve their reading, writing, grammar, and public speaking skills.
